- Register your business name.
- Obtain Wisconsin Sales and Use Tax Permits.
- Learn about the Premier Resort Tax for this area.
- Obtain Federal Tax ID Number.
- Determine your business location and what it is zoned.
- Check Zoning Code to see if this type of business is allowed or conditionally allowed in that location.
- Note that outdoor activities may have additional requirements.
- Determine what city licenses & permits that you will need and time required to obtain them, especially alcohol related licensing.
- Determine what State Licenses (restaurant, hotel, etc..) that you may need.
- Notify building official of any remodeling plans and obtain permits if applicable.
- Review Sign Code & Downtown Design Standards.
- Apply for Sign Permit.
- Complete application for utilities, if applicable.
- Outdoor food & beverage service requires a Conditional Use Permit.
- Overnight lodging requires a Room Tax Permit.
